Hi! I’m writing to let you know that we closed markabbott.global and launched abbott.work. My colleagues and I hope you like the new UI/UX and find it almost easy to take deep dives on topics associated with the intersections associated with nature, work, and technology.
We changed the name to abbott.work because Work with a capital W (Work we love doing) is a huge part of what I’m writing about. As you may know, I believe self-actualization is impossible without work, but many people have a bad attitude towards it.
It’s easy to see why. When people aren’t truly engaged in their work it becomes something to get through or to endure. But it doesn’t have to be that way. When people feel that their jobs allow them to make a difference, their work becomes Work with a capital W, and is a blessing in their lives.
My dad was a CEO and, after reading one of my articles, he shared that not everybody can get a job they love. That may be true, but wouldn’t it be great if we could get that percentage lower and lower and lower and lower and lower? Wouldn’t it be great if 95% of our people genuinely loved coming to work?
Wouldn’t it be great if we helped them not just better understand themselves but become better and better versions of themselves? Wouldn’t it be great if we—leaders, coaches, entrepreneurs, and company builders—figured out how to make work for everybody in the company, Work with a capital W? Why shouldn’t we take that on?
What’s New on the Site
A lot of people, me included, like to download articles and essays onto PDFs, mark them up and share them. The new site is built and organized in a way that should make it easier for you to not only find content on the topics you’re interested in but download them, write your critiques and share your thoughts with me and others.
That’s all for now.
Mark
